We were approached by our customer, leading providers of lifting and handling equipment to manufacturer a batch of bespoke stainless steel wheeled cradles for use in the pharmaceutical application each with a safe working load of 2000kg.
For this unique project, a detailed set of manufacturing and general arrangement drawings were issued into the workshop giving all the finishing specifications of products due to the final destination and intended use. Our fabricators had to follow astrict manufacturing tolerances and finishing specifications to ensure that the final product met the requirements of the customer in this very demanding industry sector.
The main elements of the cradles were fabricated from stainless steel which was supplied with a controlled surface finish for increased cleanliness and to minimise possible contamination.
The design also called for support blocks to be manufactured from FDA-21 approved polymer with these components being three dimensionally machined using our own CNC vertical machining centre.
The cradles were fitted with stainless steel body swivel castors with anti-static wheels and were designed to incorporate methods of attaching the cradle to a battery powered clamp truck, so the cradle could be towed and taken between processes in the customer's production facility.
The cradle design also features pivoting arms to clamp around the customers processing vessel which were rolled to suit the contour of their tank with rubber protection surfaces in an FDA-21 approved material, so all contact points with their vessel were isolated in this way.
